who do you say you are? June 22, 2017 by Suzy WigstadtWhat holds you back from standing in confidence? I love when hearing a person’s heart when answering this question! We all have had things that stand in our way from standing in confidence. Confidence is a muscle that WILL be strengthened – when we use it. That is the thing about muscles. They need to be built. Here are some responses that I’ve received from a room filled with BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, TALENTED, SMART, WORLD CHANGING, WOMEN. What holds you back from standing in confidence? || “the mean girl in my head” || “believing I am not enough” || “fear of failure” || “fear of success” || “not knowing when or how to follow up” || “fear of what other people will think” || “not being pushy” || “not being salesy” || “talking too much” || “not saying enough” || “fear of what my family thinks” || It amazes me that the thread of what holds us back is so similar! Do any of these answers ring true for you? Have you heard them, thought them? Are you currently stuck with them? I’ve got something that has helped hundreds get out of their head and into their heart!! Please grab a pen and TWO sheets of paper. Step One: Set a timer on your phone for 3 minutes Step Two: Put your hand on your chest and think “I AM” Would you take 3 minutes and write: I AM and then anything that comes to your mind. Do not judge your thoughts!! Step Three: Don’t judge the words that come to your heart. Would you take 3 minutes and write: I AM and then anything that comes to your mind. Do not judge your thoughts!! Step Four: On your first sheet of paper write down I AM, then whatever follows let your heart lead the way. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. We are trained as adults to judge our thoughts. When they aren’t what we think they SHOULD be (that’s another blog coming soon) or we “don’t want to go there …” Your heart is already there – so honor it – take the time to go there… YOU ARE WORTH IT! Write down what you think is the > > Good. Bad. Ugly. Beautiful. < < This is what your sheet will look like I AM _____________________ I AM _____________________ I AM _____________________ I AM _____________________ IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO WRITE FROM YOUR HEART NOT YOUR HEAD How can you tell the difference? When you write from your heart – you don’t pause – you let every thought flow and don’t judge it. When you write from your head – you pause and wonder things like “is this what I SHOULD be writing?” or “I don’t know if I want to write that” … Don’t be afraid of what comes to your heart. Let your heart have the place in your life it is intended to. Your heart was created long before your brain developed – your heart knows before your brain understands. We have switched that, giving our brain more importance than our heart in decision-making. Step Five: Put a line through all of the words that feel negative to you and write the opposite Example: “I am lazy” would become “I am productive” or “I am adventurous” or “I am inquisitive” This is not determined by anyone else but you. Now that you have got only the positive on your sheet – take your second sheet and write only what remains – I am _____________________ Step Six: Take your first sheet – fold it in half twice and hold it in your hands. Close your eyes for as long as you need – to FEEL what you feel about what you wrote – once you are ready to let go and step into your new beliefs start tearing up your first sheet of paper. Tear it into the smallest pieces possible. Letting go with each tear. Step Seven: Stand up and take it to a garbage OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOUSE! These thoughts no longer have a place in your life!! PAUSE for a minute. HOW DO YOU FEEL? Step Eight: With your new list – call your best friend – or send me a Facebook message with all of the things YOU ARE! The beautiful thing about this step is: WE BELIEVE YOU!! What you say is true!! We have NO CLUE what thoughts you’ve struggled with – up until now. We have NO CLUE what you switched and have made a shift in YOUR beliefs. WE BELIEVE THAT WHAT YOU SAY IS TRUE!! Keep your NEW beliefs – your TRUTH posted. Share them often. Say them over and over to yourself. KNOW that WHAT YOU SAY IS TRUE! We each have things in our lives that can pop their ugly head in and distract us. You have FULL CONTROL of your thoughts!! Take your thoughts captive and walk in who you believe you are! WHO DO YOU SAY YOU ARE?
